  • Julia Fox says she started dating Kanye West to “distract” him and “get him off Kim’s case”.
  • The two dated for just over a month at the beginning of the year, before calling it quits as soon as Ye started expressing he wanted to get back together with ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, Fox claims in a new TikTok video.
  • The clip sees the Uncut Gems star defend her decision to date the rapper, saying at the time he wasn’t on Twitter or expressing any racist and antisemitic sentiments.

Julia Fox is getting candid about her relationship with Kanye ‘Ye’ West in a new video shared on TikTok.

The two dated briefly earlier this year, making headlines for their racy interviews and photo spreads, while giving early 2000s Britney-Justin in matching denim ensembles.

Shortly after their whirlwind romance began, however, Ye started expressing he wanted to get back together with his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, who was dating Pete Davidson at the time. And so began Ye’s very public bashing of the couple – and his racist slurs and antisemitic sentiments, months on, that would see a wave of controversy engulf the rapper turned fashion mogul turned potential US president.

“I was just going to write about it in my book and then have ya’ll buy it, but I’ll just tell you guys for free,” Fox began Monday’s TikTok, explaining her reason for dating Ye.

She adds: “First of all, the man was being normal around me,” later adding, “he wasn’t on Twitter, he wasn’t on any forms of social media”.

She says the two started their relationship after he sent her constant text messages, and while she initially ignored them, she then thought: “Maybe I can get him off Kim’s case. Maybe I can distract him and get him to like me.”

“If anyone can do it, it’s me.”

The Uncut Gems star said Ye wouldn’t talk to her about Kim, but rather “clothes, and weird ideas, and our hopes and dreams, and education”.

Fox explains she wanted to “fix” the rapper. “I was delusional, and I wanted to help him,” she says, before adding she “deeply respects” Ye, the artist, but: “I stand with the Jewish community. PERIOD.”

“The moment he started tweeting, I was out.”

She went on to share a follow-up clip following backlash, saying in part: “If women really didn’t date men that upheld patriarchal values, or didn’t date men that were misogynistic, or had problems with abuse, or said problematic things in the past, there would be no men left to date.”

She continued: “Believe it or not, there are a lot of really good things about Kanye West.”
