Janae travelled to South Africa for the first time specifically to film behind the scenes of The Woman King. During her trip, however, she also made a short film about her time in the country, calling it “an experience I will never forget”.

“It was important for me to document the Motherland and my experience through film,” Janae wrote in the description of her short film.

“I went on a game drive, did a helicopter ride, swam with the seals in the Atlantic Ocean, hiked Lion’s head, went to Bo-Kaap, learned about the history of Africa through a township, travelled to Robben Island, and so much more!”
